Grief is heavy, leaving us with waves of sorrow and longing for what’s been lost. It can make us feel alone, as though the world keeps moving while our hearts stand still. But Jesus steps into our grief with compassion, hope, and comfort.
When Lazarus died, Jesus didn’t ignore the pain—He wept (John 11:35). Yet He also showed His power over death by raising Lazarus back to life. His tears remind us that He feels our pain, and His power reminds us that grief is not the end of the story.
Choosing Jesus over grief doesn’t mean ignoring the pain—it means clinging to the One who carries us through it. It means allowing His presence to carry us in the sorrow, His promises to anchor us in the storm, and His hope to remind us of the day when mourning will end forever (Revelation 21:4).
Prayer: Lord, in my grief, hold me close. Comfort me in my sorrow and remind me of Your promise of eternal life. Wipe away my tears with Your peace, and fill me with hope for the day when You will make all things new. Amen.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
