All of us, Christians or otherwise, are always tempted by the flesh and Satan. We are regularly tested, and amid our testing, we have a choice to either give in to the temptation or resist it by being faithful to the Lord.
The Lord has given us the freedom to choose His wisdom and teachings in all situations. We also have the choice to ignore the lessons of the Lord and give in to our carnal and sinful natures.
No temptation can overtake us unless we allow it. When we place our faith in the Lord and love Him more than ourselves, He always shows us a way out from becoming overtaken by temptation.
We must always know and realize that the Lord never allows a temptation to be stronger than what we can handle. So He already knows we can overcome anything the flesh and Satan can throw at us at any given time.
It’s up to us to call upon on the Lord when we can feel the swell of temptation seeking its way onto our hearts. When we go directly to the One who has already defeated sin and death, there is nothing that we cannot overcome.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (NIV)
